 BRIGHTON TRAIL

MARATHON

27th MARCH 2011

If you love running marathons, running on trails, by the sea, or on hills - you don't want to do another city run, cannot abide running up and down roads, doing laps or anything overly commercial and unfriendly, then enter here. See revised map of route. (Please be aware of possible changes due to local authority path closures.)

2010 Results here.  See the fantasticc photographs of our remarkable runners on this incredible run - 2010 photos courtesy of SEE ME IN ACTION.

Starting from the sea front at Brighton, this run takes you out over the South Downs in a loop behind the city, within a simply marvellous environment and with breath-taking views, as you work back down to the 'briney' and a nice relaxing ice cream or cup of tea with us at the end. This run is more than 26.2 miles (but only just) and so it qualifies as a trail marathon or an 'ultra'. This marathon is not a road race and so there are no ugly streets, cars, houses or shops on the route just the best of the South-Eastern English country and sea side.

The route takes you out of Brighton centre via the seafront and along the spectacular chalk cliffs to its East. The marathon then works across to the South Downs in the most beautiful of places across ridges and through stunning hidden valleys in a quiet part of the Downs away from the hustle and bustle of the busy roads, noise and air pollution of Brighton.

You will pop out of the trails, on this clearly marked and well marshalled course, near car parks and other places where spectators can safely meet you in a picturesque setting. You will work your way back to the vibrant city of Brighton and Hove as you loop around and gradually descend from the South Downs back to the sea, finishing where you began. Transport infrastructure to and from the start/finish is easy as it is within walking distance of the train and coach stations and accessible by car, with car parking nearby.

There are no major road crossings on the Brighton Trail Marathon which has been carefully designed for safety, interest and the right amount of physical challenge. If you've run with us here before at Extreme Running, you will know that we will support you fully on the day and also in the lead up to the event  You will get plenty of advice both from us and the expert members (running colleagues) on our message board, so please feel free to join. If you have any questions, please email Mark at info@extremerunning.org . Entries £48.00 or £46.00 if affiliated to UKA.
